magpie duo strive to uncover the underrepresented soundworld between lute and sackbut through shared experiences of early music, new commissions, and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Our upcoming project DOWLAND'S DREAM commemorates 400 years since Dowland’s death through an intimate blend of live music, art, and spoken word; immersing audiences in the duality of Dowland’s melancholia through both his lutesong and a contemporary mirror. 

​

We are very excited to be collaborating with composer Ilayda Oguz in a new commission of three ‘dreamsongs’, which explores an imagined subconcious dreamscape with text and artwork from Jess, and to be dressed by designer Mia Moores.
